This is like crack!!  Not that I've ever done crack, but you understand......

Whoever invented this must be stabbed!!
It has consumed my life......I can't stop!!!

By the way, thanks for the nice emails wondering where I am.
I have been working on several things, I just need to get my grove back!

Mean while.......

I MUST have a windmill.......
If anybody comes across one will you please mail it to me!!!

Look at this cuteness!!
What a great HOSTESS Gift!!!

Make the girls work for their keep!
No more bottles of wine, everybody gets a basket of eggs from me!!

And this tail gate,
I have a RED ONE!!

Mine is not a bench, but what a great idea!!

I have a this same tub in my yard........
My flowers don't look that good,
well the truth is..... mine are all brown and barely hanging on,
because it's 100 stinkin' degrees here

Pinterest makes me happy!

I'm happy to know there is someone else in the world that loves a Chevy

So, to you boyfriend, the one that calls me a HOARDER

HA See other people have the same stuff I do!

Cleaning Mom's House

Well, well, well, it's me Jane!

The last couple months have been a little crazy, sad town over here.
My sister and I have been working on cleaning out Mom's place.

For those of you out there in your 60's, 70's please know that in this day and age you no longer have to keep all your
bank statements, your electric bills, your phone bills or your credit card bills.
Think of this as Public Service Announcement
don't do that to your children!!

Mom had boxes and boxes of this stuff.
And the worst part, back in the day,
they just put your social security number on
every bank statement for all to see.
I shredded enough paper to supply a ticker tape parade in every state!!!

It's hard cleaning out your deceased parents house.
You come along so much fun stuff.
My sister and I would find pictures and sit down
and go through all of them....
we'd find a drawing one of did in first grade that Mom kept and we'd sit down and talk about that....we'd find a old pitcher and talk about it........
needless to say this process has not gone fast.

We found some old books..........

And Mom's Diary.......

This will be fun to read!

We found this chocolate box.  Look how cute it is!

Mom's toy gun when she was a kid. It weighs a ton, solid metal!

We found a few of these bottles.
My sister says they are old prescription bottles??
Does anybody know?

And Momma loved her pottery!

And now comes the time my sister and I get to fight over who gets what!!

HA HA.........I kid........I think.....

More stuff to come.........Red Wing dish set...........

My Mother......

I lost my wonderful, really awesome, Mom on February 7, 2012.
She was 77 years old.

She had a stroke and passed away in her sleep.
My sister and I found her in bed.

We had a rule that she had to call me every morning so
I could make sure she was up and around.

She didn't call that day.

My sister and I called and called.

We met at her house and went in together.

Actually, it was kind of nice to sit on her bed with her
and say our good byes before we called 911.

We had been taking care of her for a long time.
Sometimes it was really hard...hearing the same story over and over.
And getting use to all her new little "ways" she liked things done.

A while ago a huge calm came over me and I decided
I wasn't going to correct her any more.
I wasn't going to say,
I know, you told me already.
I wasn't going to worry so much about cleaning her house,
fixing a meal, she wasn't going to eat.

I was going to spend more time just talking to her.
Watching TV with her, just sitting with her.

I'm glad I did.

When I wasn't at her house, I spoke with her twice a day.
We had good talks together,
even if I had already heard the story.......

She always told me she loved me
and I always told her.

I really miss her.

I'm A Bad Blogger..........

Wow I miss everybody so much!

I haven't been on here in forever!!!

I have had a few changes in my world.  My wonderful Mother has taken that turn in life where I am now the parent.

She is still on her own, but we don't want to leave her alone.

I have been doing her laundry and paying her bills for some time now but within the last few months she needs more attention.  My sister and I take turns every other day taking care of her.

Nobody tells you about this part, and as a kid you sure never think about it.
It's hard, really hard.

It's hard hearing the same story over and over, it's hard telling her she has to take a shower, it's hard getting her eat something other than ice cream!  And it's hard looking at her across the table wishing she was the old Mom.  Not that her mind is all the way gone but she's different now.

And my job is really busy!  I got a raise, HELLO!  With all the blogging I was doing at work, that was a shock!  Thank goodness I haven't been caught yet! ha

So with my Mom and that place I have to go to that pays the bills, I haven't had time to work on any of my projects. I am so behind!  I have so much furniture stacked up that I need to get to.

AND I haven't even changed my house to FALL!!!!
Can you imagine!!

Thank you for sticking by me and not un-following me!  I promise I'll get my mo-jo back soon!

I feel like I know you all personally and I have been a really bad friend for not checking in.

I miss everybody so much.
Love,
Jane

My Great Grandmother's Journal 1898

I have been such a bad blogger!
I've been having to actually work at my job
and have just no time for blogging!
humph!

The other I was dusting, no I really was......
and my Great Grand Grandmothers journal caught my eye.

When I was young I would spend the night at my
Grandparents house whenever I could.
Great memories, Gram let me watch Star Trek!
We would also sit on the patio and Grandpa would read to me from his Mother's Journal.
I loved it!
I would picture her and everything in my mind.

Here's some entries.

Diary beginning July 19, 1891

and went back to washing the next day!

Think about it .......no TV, no TIVO, no Housewives of ANYWHERE!
Not only that, but she walked back and fourth
from the school she taught at.
Both ways in the snow
(OK I added the snow part, but there was snow, it was Iowa)
Sometimes Oscar was able to pick her up in a buggy.

There are entries were Oscar was calling on her
and there was a chaperone!!

I can't even imagine life back then.

Remember my dinning room photos.

Here is Effie Mae, Oscar and Lambert.

Here are all their children.
My Gramps is the baby in white.
Lambert is in back, he was the oldest.
And in this picture, Oscar is in the middle of the back row.
That is his family.

I sure wish I could go back and talk to everybody!
How cool would that be!!

Where is Jane?

Wow I have been crazy busy.....
and not with my furniture stuff!

Taking all that time off for vacation was not smart!
It took over a week to clean my desk!
Job security....... I guess

And last weekend we took my nephew to college!

I rode with him and his parents followed.
And I gotta tell ya, there are a few rap songs that I did enjoy!

The dorm and the essentials.......snowboard!

The Nephew and his roommate putting together dressers!

Now that was hilarious!!

Three hours later and one almost cut off thumb......
The Bother in Law was injured early on!

Taylor Swift poster from Aunt Jane......
Hey The Roommate LOVED it!!

The good bye photo......

Me, The Nephew, My Sister

I think my Bother In Law was a little misty eyed....
he took the photo.......

I cried more than the parents did!!

I promise I'll be back soon!!

Mayan Southwestern Style / Vacation

The Boyfriend and I had a wonderful vacation at the
Iberostar Tucan Resort in Cancun.

The view from our balcony!

Yep, need I say more!

We've been here before and for the price it is a great vacation place.
It's all inclusive, there is a jungle, a huge pool, several different restaurants and the
staff, could not be any nicer!!

Oh and there's the BEACH!
Me at 6:30am, the sun just came up!
Heaven!!!!

My only complaint...........

The people of Cancun did not get the memo that
Southwestern is DONE!

Mayan Southwestern, yes,
but it's still done.......

This is the view from the balcony looking in........

Huge room, lots of space!

But the pastel, the whole Southwestern thang is so over!

OK, so I don't get yelled at, if you live in a cabin, or maybe New Mexico,
Southwestern could still be used.

Iberostar Resort  People, hear me.......

We something new and exciting!

At least there wasn't one of these bad boys in the room!!

We did get these nice robes.....

And fresh flowers, every other day!

And the staff made these towel animals everyday.

I don't know who thought this up,
or who had enough time on their hands to make up the
art of Towel Animals.....

Look they even have eyes!

Cute?
You decide......

One afternoon when we came back from the beach there was
a Towel Baby Head......with eyes and a mouth........

The Boyfriend dismantled it immediately and put the towels outside!
It was really creepy!

And because I know how fun it is to look at other
peoples vacation pictures....

Look at this cute little guy!

To give you some idea how small he was!

Here's The Boyfriend and I floating on our raft!

There were monkeys everywhere!

And for your listening and viewing pleasure

Me being Jane Goodall

The Boyfriend said YELLED the 3rd one over and over......
and over and over and over...........

IKEA GRAND OPENING!!!!!!!!!

I'm baaack!!!

What a wonderful vacation, more on that later........

I WAS there........

Here we are heading for the door!

We waited till around noon to head over.
We hoped by then all the crazies were gone........not so much!

You would not believe how many people spent the night in the parking lot!
For DAYS.......just to be first in line.

OK, the first 150 people got a sofa and a chair.......but still,
it was a parking lot PEOPLE!!!

(Truth be told, I was busy in Cancun.....
and don't own a tent
or I probably would have been there too)

All the new stations were there!

The parking was full and the were busing people in from the mall next door.

It was REALLY crazy!

I really like this tile....... kitchen remodel in my future????

I really want this rug......
I am so into PINK!
What am I a 12 year old girl........?

Took a picture of this rug for the
"Man Room"  The Boyfriend is demanding!

Oops it has flowers......but it's BROWN!
Brown is a big MAN color!

I liked this one too.......

And really when it comes down to it....
like he's going to get anything he wants in that room!!

Silly, silly MAN!

This was all I came home with!

A few candles, candle holders and some Tupperware.

Well, not Tupperware, IKEAware!!

This is me and my shopping assistant after a huge day at IKEA!

This was truly one of the happiest days of my LIFE!!

I LOVE IKEA!!!!!!
